Gedurende zijn carrière is Jean Pierre Barral erkend als vernieuwer en als toonaangevend voorstander van onderzoek naar nieuwe therapieën. Met name door zijn onderzoek naar Viscerale Therapie verwierf hij internationale faam.

J.P. Barral is mede-oprichter van het Barral Instituut in Florida en directeur van 'The Department of Osteopathic Manipulation' aan de 'University of Paris School of Medicine'
